Fox 2 - Final

I wanted to get this guy finished before I took off again, this time with my wonderful quilting group to a fun and relaxed weekend near Huntsville On. We're lucky that one of our group has a cottage/second home that will accommodate lots of women and their sewing stuff. LOL

I'm hoping for reasonable weather as I wanted to pass on some of my painting "wisdom". Don't particularly need hear but we do need clear weather. Ill take lots of photos of " the good life".

But here is Fox 2. This is adapted from the work of another Canadian native American. I think the mouse is subtle enough as to not horrify!! This is a little stark but then the focus is the Reynard.

Cat-tails - Final

 

This piece is finally finished. It was rather painstaking work but all the detail certainly makes it worth it when it all comes together. It's dimensions are 22" x 17", not very big for all the grief it gave me! But I'm very happy with how my own painted fabric set the scene for this piece.
This is currently at maximum crop size. I will study it now for a few days (I put all my unfinished work on my screen saver so I look at it ALL the time.). Framing or simple edge finish? I haven't decided that yet.

Cat-tails in the Swamp - Day 8..9? Can't Be!

I started this piece August 17. That means I've been working on this either in my head or in practice, off and on for ......3 weeks.
Not done yet.

I think the slow pace is partly due to I'm not working to a final picture. Maybe more importantly I trying to let the cloth tell me what goes where.

I layered in even more Cat-tails and grasses. I've roughed in some lily pads but they may be too small to be practical. And I started thread painting the foliage of the 3 major cat-tails at the front. I HAVE to decide how to finish the lower left corner.

Then............THEN.. my live-in devil's advocate suggested a blue heron.........................

Stay tuned. Sigh. Can't get that out of my head now............................ ^^&*^$#563!

Customer Quilt

So I spent today quilting and binding this gem for a 92 year lady. I can only hope when I come anywhere near that venerable age, I am that able and energetic to be able to carry on my sewing.

Sneak Peek - ALmost Done

I can't work on the Swamp for the next few days as I have a quilt on the frame and a deadline. So I worked ahead and roughed in locations and foliage.

The stems are stitched down but nothing else is.
There is still lots of stitching, and other work to be done on the left side but it should be finished soon.

As I mentioned....all that detail... is partial concealed. But it looks real doesn't it?
