In addition to replacing the frayed 'wrap' binding with a classic French binding, there were a lot of areas when the quilting threads had snapped. A lot of heavy use I think.
While the quilt was so old and well loved, the pattern for the simple large stitch quilting showed on the backing, so it was just a matter of following the lines. As the batting was poly and half the fabrics were poly cotton, it speaks to the age of this old girl.
The owner is very receptive to my suggestion that this quilt be retired as it is a memento from her mother.
